Stormwater

The City of Conover is working to protect our local streams from being damaged by stormwater pollution. When it rains, pollutants such as fertilizer, oil, grease and pet waste are picked up from the ground and carried into the nearest storm drain down the street. The storm drains are not connected to a treatment system, so everything that flows down the drain goes directly to the nearest creek, river or stream. The City of Conover Stormwater Ordinance is available at the link: Conover Stormwater Ordinance

You can make a difference and help us keep our local waters clean. Thank you for taking the time to learn about stormwater. You can take the next step and get involved by doing one or more of the following:

Report Storm Water Pollution

One of the most important things you can do as a citizen is to report any stormwater pollution you see. We have a reporting tool available for use at this link: Online Reporting Tool. Additionally reports can also be sent to stormwater@wpcog.org, or leave a voicemail at 828.485.4222 (for fastest response times please use reporting tool or email). Please provide photographic evidence when submitting these reports.

SURVEY

As a permit requirement, each municipality must provide the opportunity for citizens to have input on the stormwater program, and we are looking for input from our concerned citizens. To do this we have created a survey! If you would like to suggest a stream cleanup location or give your input on the program as a whole please fill out a survey at this link: Stormwater Program Survey (External Link)
