Police Department

On behalf of the men and women of the Conover Police Department, we welcome you to our department website. We are a nationally accredited police department through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and we are committed to providing the citizens of Conover with the highest level of police service by meeting nationally set standards of police excellence through model policies, procedures, and practices.

The Conover Police Department is comprised of 29 full-time officers, 1 Code Enforcement Officer, 2 civilian Records Clerk, 6 part-time officers and 5 volunteer Police Chaplains. This group of professionals provides law enforcement and community services to the citizens of Conover twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. The men and women of the Conover Police Department are dedicated to service, excellence, and working in partnership with the community. The department takes great pride in being a service-oriented police department.

The City of Conover hired its first full-time law enforcement officer in 1926. Since that time, the department has had 10 Police Chiefs and has grown to the current staffing levels based upon growth and the ability to maintain current levels of service.

To better serve the citizens of Conover, the police department has placed an emphasis on technology, education, and professionalism.  We adhere to the guiding principles of integrity, fairness, respect, and professionalism.
